Together & Apart: Israeli Jews’ Views on their Relationship to American Jews and Religious Pluralism

This thorough 28 page long report presents the findings of the 2017 UJA-Federation’s survey of 2,050 Israeli Jews regarding the extent to which Israelis value the overall relationship with Diaspora Jewry, focusing specifically on the way in which Israeli Jews relate to the issues of religious pluralism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict that are most pressing to American Jewry. Including the questions and answers to the survey as well as an accompanying analyses, the report identifies both assets and challenges in the relationship between American and Israeli Jews. For example, while there is a strong consensus among Israeli Jews regarding the shared destiny, responsibility and connection between Israeli and American Jews, the majority do not believe that Israel needs to take into account the views of American Jewish leaders on issues of religious pluralism, politics and security.
