This post presents alternative versions of « Hanerot Halalu, » as well as the blessings recited upon lighting the menorah. As explained in more detail below, several alterations were made to « Hanerot Halalu » in order to emphasize messages of peace and gender equality. The document offers the Hebrew, English and transliterated texts of the song and blessings, including both traditional male God-language and feminine God-language, reflecting a blend of Jewish tradition with modern feminist approaches. This resource was created by Kolot: Center for Jewish Women’s & Gender Studies and shared on Ritualwell.org, a project of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College that provides a platform for creating new Jewish practices and observances.
